The player sample uses game profile internally, but discards everything but the name and uuid and does not follow player profile restrictions, so it doesn't make sense to use that in the event.
Upstream has released updates that appear to apply and compile correctly.
This update has not been tested by PaperMC and as with ANY update, please do your own testing
